Welcome to the Village Pre-School.

We are an established pre-school having formed in 1990 as The Village Playgroup. We aim to provide the highest quality education and care for all our children and to provide a warm and caring environment within which all children can learn and develop as they play. Our day to day activity reflects and embraces the diversity of the local community. We aim to offer a welcome to each individual child and family and aim to make no group feel excluded.

Welcome

Learning through play is very important to how a young child develops. During each session the children have a choice of activities. These include; sand & water, dough, home corner, arts & crafts, garage, dolls' house, train set, farm, construction, puzzles, cooking, interest table, musical instruments. Toys and activities are changed daily and we try to find different ways of presenting familiar activities. On a rota system we put out greengrocers, supermarket, bakers, hairdressers, puppet theatre, office, hospital.

Every session provides a physical time when the children can use large and small physical toys and equipment, for example, tricycles, climbing frames. Weather permitting we can use the outdoor patio and garden all year round. Children are also encouraged to participate in team games, singing sessions and tidy-up time.

We have many visitors including the Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Police, Librarian, Dental Health, Suntrap, a postman, Road Safety and Accident Prevention.

The pre-school follows the national curriculum which follows the nationally approved Early Learning Goals. These are; Language and Literacy, Personal and Social Development, Mathematics, knowledge and understanding of the world, Physical Development and Creative Development.
